Of course a thirty-one service day inspection consists of a lot more than simply a boiler wash. Here is a checklist we developed to confirm that no details are forgotten. Each line item with a number following it is an item that ties in with the Part 230 requirements. The items without the numbers are done for our own gratification. The blank line items are for writing in specific repairs that a given engine might need that time around. Everyone involved is required to initial the items that they complete as a trace back to them should an issue develop. Employees have lost their positions for items that they signed off as being reassembled and tight that were later found not to be tight.
One our line, a minimum of three working days is allowed to complete a 31SDI.
