Re: CATS 15 & 19

As a side note, some of the early (15+ years ago) traction motor issues the C&TS had with #19 were caused by missing access covers that allowed heavy dust and dirt accumulation on the armature windings and the field coils that inhibited the dissipation of heat (one of the covers was found several miles west of Antonito along the ROW covered in dirt). Using the 19 for snow plowing was also hard on the TMs as the snow would plug up the ventilation holes that were supposed to let the heat out. There were other issues as well, but seems the units are much better cared for today (a case of live and learn?)
