It's a basic box-stock Westside import from the mid-1970's. The previous owner replaced the original open-frame motor with a big Canon instrument motor, which makes it run very sweet. It runs much better and pulls much better than my later Westside K-36. I have a 3% ruling grade, and have yet to put enough train behind it to bring it to its knees. 15 cars is a lot of HOn3 to wrap around a 22" radius curve on a 3% grade, and 495 walks up it without a care in the world.....
The big flaw with the model is like some other mid-70's Westside models built before can motors became available, the boiler sits about a foot too high on the frame. It's not as obvious as the early K27's, but its there.
