I hope you do get to take that trip. The fall is my favorite time to go over Marshall Pass. Most of the road is on the old railroad roadbed. The county road is like a dirt super highway, so any vehicle works. In many places, you can still see cinders and ballast worked into the roadbed. On the bottom of the west side of the pass, the railroad passes through a lot of private land. The old roadbed is very visible from the road.
