We're not looking at the forties here, or even the fifties. Per historian/photographer Tom Gildersleeve, the
Rio Grande NEVER ran a K-37 on the Silverton Branch prior to March 19, 1963. And that was a work train pulled by #492 – not a string of coaches – that didn't even make it to Rockwood and had to back into town from just beyond The Little High Line where it was blocked by a big patch of ice on the track where Elbert Creek had overflowed. IIRC, a K-37 – or even a K-36 – didn't pull a string of coaches to Silverton for MANY more years
