For folks like me who're less familiar with EBT history, when was the last time trains ran on this part of the line?
My understanding is that the EBT's M-1 (the Brill gas-electric) ran over the bridge in the early 1960s, when the high school was being built. The school district wanted to take the EBT's right-of-way for the new school; to prevent that, the EBT ran M-1 out to Saltillo to demonstrate that the railroad was still active.
The high school is only about 50 feet from the north end of the bridge -- the EBT's track and right-of-way actually run thru the school's front yard.
