Likely April of 1956. That bridge is part of the main line and it would have last been used just before the railroad shut down as a coal hauler.
EBT is definitely an interesting place to explore. There are tracks in dense woods with monstrous trees growing up between the rails. Some grade crossings are still intact, while others have been paved over many times. There are also structures that have been repurposed. And then there is the yard...
The sale and rebirth of EBT in 2020 is one of the only GOOD things to come out of last year. It had been one of the saddest stories in preservation railroading, and now holds a lot of promise for the future. I’m really looking forward to getting back there, hopefully in the fall of this year.
