You have great eyes Dave. These photos are fun to look at up close, given the high quality of the original glass plate negs.
Bruce’s link here to the 218 on the turntable shot is a little clearer than yours. [
digital.denverlibrary.org]. As a hint to anyone new to the dpl site, don’t enlarge the photos manually as they don’t maintain focus. Click on the arrows in the blue box in the photos’ upper right. Then there are + and - symbols in the upper left for zooming in and out.
In this pic you can see 218 on the table, 62 nearest the photographer, then beside it is 213 (number is on the sand dome). Outside the roundhouse over 218’s tender, using the other photo as a hint and going counter clockwise are 268, 404, 274 and 401. These numbers are clearest on their headlight glass. No’s 267 and 409 are still in the same position on the turntable lead. The two shots are taken the same day and I agree that the 218 shot was taken before the other, as by then 404 had become the loco on the table.
