911 is unrestored. However it is not in terrible shape. The interior is pretty much complete, and in pretty good condition considering how long it was outdoors. Few windows are broken, and I believe the kitchen is missing the stove (been a long time since I last went in it). The bolsters need modification, the car was placed on standard gauge trucks in the black hills, and the bolsters were modified to raise the car up to standard gauge coupler height. Not that hard to undo, but needs to be done before the car could run. Structurally the car is pretty solid looking, though I don't think anyone has ever done a complete survey. It's always been a pipe dream of mine to see all the cars restored and connected to the mainline so they could be used for special occasions. 911 would make a great car for when History Colorado visits their railroad, or for other very special guests. It would not be impossible to connect the museum building to the mainline, just require a little bit of pavement work. I hope in my lifetime to see those cars go over the loop pulled by a C&S engine. I'm only 32, so I have some time left for it to happen. Never say never. It would be quite a sight to see.
