Vestigial parts

Boris. the heating system was low pressure .I believe it was regulated from the cab .I do not know if it could be adjusted from individual cars , but Jim Mayer said the conductors would signal if they wanted the heat increased or reduced . #482 ,when it sat in Chama ,still had the heater valve and header pipe in place .It was a 3"pipe .THe other engines had plugs at the location . Since it was saturated steam ,and a large pipe ,I am not surprised the crews complained about steam consumption . #484 for many years h as the signal buzzer pot in place .It is gone now .It was the only one I ever saw .
