There is a high chance that the pilot who dropped that particular bomb did NOT get to enjoy a long and full life. Over half of the IJN air crewmen who flew in the Pearl harbor strike were dead within a year, and relatively few of them survived the entire war. Most of the survivors made it through due to other injuries keeping them grounded, like Fuchida breaking both his legs at Midway. The IJN did not rotate pilots out of combat to the same extent the U.S. did.
