Thanks Nick. This Tacoma railcar is remarkably similar to the Stover car format in the 1946 photo. I found a couple more photos of the Tacoma railcar posted by Dave Grandt

Here is a cellphone snap of the Stover chassis from the Gazette (Jan/Feb 1994 p.89):
Gene Deimling's caption: "According to the note on the back, this photo was taken outside Silverton, Colorado, in 1946 by the late Mark Swerdfeger, and shows the remains of a Silverton Northern Rail Car. Could this be the remains of the SN's Stover Motor Car #1?" (He then references the Rainbow Route photos on p.253 & p.297.)
I am confident answering this question in the affirmative. The frame, straps, and cowcatcher are a match. The wheel pedestal castings and hubs are unique and unmistakable (unbolted from the frame in the front).
The similarity in format and location to the Tacoma railcar suggests a connection.
