In August 1965 the New Mexico Railroader newsletter published a history of the standard gauge operations on the Farmington Branch, Volume 7, Number 8. Article was titled “A Broad Gauge Tail on a Narrow Gauge Dog.” Was written by Erl M. Ellis. My copy was a gift from Ernie Robart.
Following is extracted from the article. The article listed the numbers of all the cars but I do not have time to type them all.
Standard Gauge Engines Used on the Farmington Branch
510, 514, 519, 521, 524, 525 all Class T-18 4-6-0s. All were scrapped between 1920 and 1924
One Class C-28 2-8-0 number 584 was used. It was scrapped in 1929
Rolling Stock
19 box cars in the 11000 series
10 stock cars in the various series
10 flat cars
1 coal car
1 refrigerator car
Caboose 0853
Combination Passenger Car 550
The article does not mention it, but the D&RG kept a standard gauge flanger at Durango.

Red Apple Situation
The standard gauge flanger gigged out in the local round house went into service yesterday afternoon about 1 o’clock. Before night, 7 miles of the Red Apple line was opened. Today the entire distance was cleared.
