Randy, I am not a big diesel fan, but I understand how valuable they are to the D&S (and remember C&TS has had diesels since the start). They serve a purpose and save wear and tear on the steam engines.

The D&S has been laying new ties and ballast for a couple of years now. They worked north out of Durango as some of the area that needed it most was along the Animas in the valley. I think they are doing ballast work north of Cascade. Normally they would load ballast in the cars at Rockwood, but with the passenger trains running out of there, they have been loading the ballast cars on the Event Park wye. I think I have this all right, if not, hope one of the D&S guys will correct this.
