Re: Busy Day on the D&S

Great pics Jerry, thanks for the effort. Hopefully I won't be shunned or banished from the NGDF for saying I like the last one the best, #7 crossing US 550 at Hermosa. When I was there 10/16-17 riding and chasing with my brother, we both commented how busy it was, and how happy all the passengers looked. Lots of families with little kids. My brother also noticed a lot of out of state plates in the Rockwood parking lot. When we were driving back and forth between Durango and Rockwood, I noticed some of the hopper cars on the tail of the events wye. I also thought I heard or read the switchers struggle with more than a couple loaded hoppers. Do you know what the purpose of the hopper train was, I assume to dump ballast somewhere, or the other.
