Jerry:
This newspaper clipping from 1905, brings up another question. Was this the original stone section of the roundhouse that was similar to the C&S roundhouse? I have only seen one distant photo of this. The final revision to the roundhouse was added in 1937 and was wood. The north wall of the remaining 4 stall brick roundhouse was rough stone which I assume was from this first roundhouse and I think was located where the wood oil house was located. I read somewhere that the brick engine house was built in 1889.
[
digital.denverlibrary.org] A very bad print but under high magnification shows the original 1882 layout with a coaling trestle and 6? stall roundhouse.
I just looked at the DPM photo of the Gunnison Roundhouse, and under magnification it just doesn't look like the brick section of the final roundhouse.

The brick section of the final roundhouse has a brick arch across the doors in the brickwork detail.
