Since a 91 class 2-6-OT managed to sneak into this thread, I thought I would post my only photo of this class of engine. In the fall of 1956 my parents revealed a secret that they had kept from us kids for some time: that my dad had accepted a position at Holloman Air Force base in New Mexico on a conditional basis: he would move to New Mexico for six months, if he liked it after the first three months the family would come for the next three months, at the end of which we could stay in the USA or return to Germany, all courtesy of the USAF. But first we had to travel to Homburg, near Frankfurt for physicals at an Air Force facility. That trip meant a few hundred exciting miles behind 03 class Pacifics. The railroad didn't use 91 class engines in Essen, but there were a number of them in Frankfurt for switching and for local trains. I am not sure that there were any further encounters with these engines as many had already met the cutting torch by this time, and in a few months we would be gone - for more unimaginable adventures.
