Should we be looking at D&RG (Colorado) or D&RGW (Utah) records? Those two closely-related railroads had an interesting entwined history in their early days, including a few spats with each other.
Most narrow gauge engines of that period were not unique designs. For example, the 12x16 Baldwin mogul was a standard design (class 8-18-D) that was used on railroads around the continent. The Porter 0-6-0's were likewise mostly built to standard designs. Point being: Even if you can't find photographs of your specific engines, you should be able to find photographs of equivalent machines that would've differed only in whatever changes their owners made after purchase in the way that engines and equipment always seem to change over time.
