When delivered as D&RG #80 this engine was olive green and color (imitation gold) in 1880 with an American iron jacket. By the time it was repainted for BC&F I imagine it would have been black unless otherwise specified. The D&RG switched to black in 1881 and never looked back, however Baldwin standard remained olive. Lettering as stated was probably imitation gold or aluminum. It clearly retains a polished jacket. Most everything else on the engine was probably painted the same base color. By this time the polished brass and iron and varnished wood was considered an ancient practice and an undue expense.
