Someone at the museum could scan / post the drawing I'd imagine- but if memory serves:
There's a D&RGW drawing that shows which running gear parts can be swapped. The side rods and mains are the only "immediately swappable" (as immediately swappable anything is on a steam engine, anyway...) but the valve gear components aren't. Not to say that they can't be made to work, but they are slightly different lengths which means more fitment is needed. Obviously they can work as 487 has them and is nice and square.
If I recall right, the K36 has a distinct L/R casting for the cylinders, and the K37 was made to have a universal casting (just put the heads on the other end!), and the geometry ended up just slightly different.
