So, a question I ponder in my head from time to time regarding scale model locomotives;
How do you keep the engine from "listing" while it runs? What i mean is, if you have lateral motion in the drivers, how do you keep it centered when not on a curve? The frame could easily slide across the axles to one side in the front, and the other in the back, causing it to run at an angle; or, it could slide all the way to one side or the other. This seems like it could cause havoc and an unbalanced operating situation.
I have seen how the real engines achieve this, and it may not be scale-able...
One thought I had was to make one driver, possibly the main, have very little lateral. When on curves the rear and two front would be allowed to slide, and the main would help to center the loco when returning to a straight...
