Well neither actually. The 'engines' were trucks so pivoted like a modern diesel.

Two designs were made in the US that I know of. Baldwin made one and Vulcan made the duplexes. These were more in the Kitson Style.

Also Bagnell made some. One of which ended up in Colorado.
