Before every winter season they'd take it to Alamosa for some going over to insure it was in good order for the winter. All the small stuff was done. Journals repacked etc.
The tool cars were packed with anything that might be needed, spare brasses, shovels, everything.
OM was of course always kept in Chama. Both the tender and water car were kept filled. At the beginning of the season the plow was fired up and stayed hot until late May. Then they'd take it back to Alamosa again...
Thats about all there was to it I guess.
