Sounds as if maybe there are two railways under construction on Kauai. The February issue of Trainline, the journal of the Tourist Railway Association, reports the following:
"Kauai, Hawaii: Expect to see two more steam operations in Hawaii on the island (county) of Kauai. The Grove Farm
Homestead Musueum is plannin relaying the 30" gauge trackage once used by the Lihue Mill sugar plantation.
"There are four steam locomotives on the property: Paulo, 2-4-0T Hohenzollern c/n 426, 1887; Kaipu, 0602T Baldwin c/n 58557, 1925, and Wainiha, 0-6-2T Baldwin c/n 38311, 1915. Wahiawa, 0-6-2T Baldwin c/n 54719, 1921. The first three are operational, the last is not.
"The second planned operation would be 36" gauge, of about two miles, using locomotives once operated by Oahu Sugar plantation.

Sounds like I may have to talk my wife into a tropical vacation on Kauai one of these days.
