This is a new, 36” gauge project called the Kauai Plantation Railway, across the road from the Grove Plantation and its 30” gauge equipment. It will be on the site of an existing historic plantation, shopping/restaurant site. I believe this is a foreman’s house for the greater Grove Plantation complex, and was like Grove Plantation was owned by the Wilcox family
The organizers include a well known architect, Hawaiian railfan. I have a copy of project presentation, and its reasonable and well thought out. The railfan’s comment is “you have to pay before you play”
They are after original Hawaiian used, Baldwin built locomotives, but they have complications, and in the meantime have located a former Louisiana sugar cane loco which will stand in. The total run is about 3.5 miles.
I am looking forward to a visit.
