Hi, El,
As a matter of fact, we do own almost all the locomotives and rolling stock. Our machinist was ordered to make a bunch of "property of Georgetown Loop RR" nameplates today and has been busily installing them on the lathes, drill presses, etc.
GLR (Lindsay Ashby & Family) owns everything in the shop, from milling machines and lathes, down to the smallest screwdriver, and even the refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, desks, etc. We own all the track maintenance equipment, radios, woodshop tools, etc. We own the computers and the ticketing and reservation programs, too.
Basically CHS owns 2 C&S passenger coaches which need running gear and brake system overhauls before they can be operated, and a C&S business car which needs complete restoration. They also own a couple of boxcars, a long D&RG caboose, the depot at Silver Plume, and Engine 9, of course. Engine 9 would take at least a year and around $500,000 (conservative estimate) to return to service.
We could get nasty and remove all the ties, too, since Lindsay provided them, but I was told we will not stoop that low. This thing is just so much government BS, and we hope they come to their senses soon. But .... whoever heard of sensible beaurocrats?
