Distance from Alamosa to La Veta is 62 miles, making a 124 mile round trip - one of the longest in the steam biz today.

We figure about 200 gallons to fire up from cold. We fire up on Friday afternoon to check things out, bring it up to full pressure, fill the boiler to the top with water, then drop the fire. The next moring we have about 100 lbs of pressure and 3/4 a glass of water to start with.
