Scott I finished the article late last night. All the photos are what I consider to be "Winners", and I am picky as hell. I suspect Victor was very young when he shot in 1959. He has traveled all over the world, mainly to see steam. Europe in the 60's-80's, South Africa Several times, plus other remote locations for steam. He did a book with Harold Edmonson, in the 70's or 80's, which was a phenomenal book. It is "The Love of Trains". Anyway it was a massed produced coffee table book, with world steam coverage with exceptional photos. It sold a boatload, and was probably the most widely sold train book because it was in the mass market. I found it on Amazon or somewhere in the link below.
I remember one trip I was on was the John Craft charters in 1992. They sold out the first weekend, so added a second weekend of roundtrips 2 days over the line. They sold those and a special Friday Afternoon trip with 3 engines up the grade from Chama. We hiked from Coxo crossing a good distance east to a spot we could get the train in the clear without the highway, but also Windy point. Anyway it was great afternoon lighting except it going in and out of the clouds. Craft asked if everyone was ready and Victor said..."No Wait". He was watching the clouds and knew it would take 5 or so minutes for the train to start and pass us, so we waited until he said GO! It was a great runby, and In my preview for the video the shot at Windy Point is a golden glint! He brings a small step ladder with him on trips for 2 reasons.
I was complaining about my knee, and he said....Thats one of the reasons I bring the ladder with me, for a seat. The other was to get elevation over the folks at the location he was shooting. As far as I know he has always shot a speed-graphic camera.
Here is the link to the book. You can research it further if you like.

By the way there is a small article on the formation of the C&TS later in the magazine, that is sort of a follow-up to Victors Rio Grande article. It is not by Victor but a nice plug for the C&TS.
