I'm surprised that in umpteen posts on this subject, no one brought up the fact that the D&RGW never referred to that nice passenger train between Alamosa and Durango as the "San Juan Express." It was the "San Juan." Period. There was an earlier "Colorado-New Mexico Express." "San Juan Express" was an incorrect name tagged to the train somewhere along the line, but not by the D&RGW.
