Imagine 340 or 41 pulling a passenger train with the Edna or the Durango on the C&TS or the D&S! There would certainly be photo lines.
I spent 2 July at Knott's Berry farm this year. I met 2 guys there that were extremely nice and knowledgeable = Randy Babcock and Don Conner.
Randy and Don spent over 3 hours with me, showing equipment and the shops, and telling history and stories.
The crew at Knott's would have a dream come true if they could tour their equipment to Colorado, much like Goose 5, Goose 2, and Dan Markoff's Eureka #4.
They recently completed a perfect restoration of the Edna Car. Engines 340 and 41 can't be matched in terms of cleanliness and mechanical care. Goose #3 has a large cummins that would serve well on a longer run. The Durango car is exactly as it was on the inside as it was 50 or more years ago.
The trouble with touring equipment comes not from the crew there, but from Knott's management. The crew has campaigned for such a thing, and the management has not given a total yes or a total no. It has to be more advantageous and less of a risk for them ... a business deal.
I have contacts for a few of the Knott's crew if you would like to contact me at my email. It would be best for them to issue information first hand.
