That is when the D&SNG took over and they were getting the locomotives lettered for the D&SNG. The shot without the cinder catcher is when they had just pulled the fake diamond stack off. Must have been really cool seeing the transition from D&RGW to D&SNG. I know a lot of exciting things happened in those first few years of new ownership. So glad Dick Bell lived there and was able to capture these wonderful images. One thing I miss is the North Yard trackage, was really cool seeing strings of drop bottom gons and other cars spotted there.
