The following info is from Adolph Hungry Wolf's book
Narrow Gauge Railway Scenes. The description of a picture credited to Bob Richardson said
79 was given to the Colorado railroad museum. Due to politics (I am assuming the civil war), he could not get the engine out. Then..... the military went ahead and started taking gas axes to anything they could find. After all, Japan was paying $30 a ton.

P.S. I agree with you about the boiler pressure. That is insanely low. I think unbalanced slide valves were good up to 160 pounds. I dunno if anyone will ever know if they were so equipped. Maybe the boiler pressure could have been lowered for some reason or another? Perhaps they were -really- slippery?
