Counting down to the beginning of our rotary event! Our staff has already begun the process of steaming up engines, and preparing OY for steam up. In addition, a snow storm has dropped even more snow on the region particularly in the high country. Over the last 23 years, it was unknown if an operating steam rotary snow plow would ever plow out of Chama, heading for Cumbres pass. Due to the support of the NGPF, FOCTS, and diligent work of our staff, this spectacular experience will happen again. As such, you are a witness to history.

In today's times, there is a much greater risk by putting on an event such as this. In particular, the needs of the state DOTs and State Patrol/Police have necessitated a completely different approach from the free wheeling events of the 1990's. Traffic control, established photo zones, and bus transportation are necessary to be able to sponsor an event. Given the realities of putting on an event such as this, we ask for you patience and good humor. In addition, given the difficulties associated with sponsoring this event, it is unlikely you will have the chance to see OY plow out the west side of Cumbres Pass again.
