#9 retreated back to Alna Center and B&SR #7 rolled down to pick us up and take us to Top Of The Mountain. Monson #3 had departed ahead of all the trains and was waiting on the mill spur when we arrived.
After dropping passengers #7 rolled ahead to back into the siding. Here the crew thaws out a frozen switch with a propane torch.
B&SR #7 (and later sister #8) were the largest 2-4-4T Forneys built (I think I read that somewhere)
Here the brakeman is tieing down tank car #14. Each train had a couple of brakeman spread out to operate the handbrakes as needed. #14 served double duty carrying extra water. Under the tarp on the trailing flat car is a gas pump and hoses.
Monson #3 decided to take advantage of #14's presence, and pulled up to get a drink.
