Great information from everyone. But unless I really missed something, nowhere did I see the subject restricted to Durango and/or the San Juan Extension. Should not Crested Butte have been included? I'm not sure if the D&RG went up to Floresta, but the Big Mine at CB was most of the reason to rush up to Crested Butte, was it not? And all that time, all the track everywhere was NG - over Marshall Pass and thru Black Canyon. If you include other roads, where did C&S and DSP&P get their fuel? Was it coal or wood? Just curious.
