The Rotary at Breckenridge is in fact from the White Pass. The two boxcars are on original C&S frames acquired from the White Pass but the bodies are reproductions.
At Fairplay there is a small United Fruit 2-6-0 and some D&RGW equipment, including 2 long cabooses, none of which are operational.
The cabooses at Silver Plume:
The 0586 was donated the State Historical Society in the early 70's and is slated to be moved into the new display building this fall, with a little massaging to get it through the doorway.
The short caboose lettered for Georgetown Loop is ex RGS 0400, acquired in 1989 from Jerry Albers of Clifton, CO who rescued it from a derelict condition at Ridgeway, CO.
The 0574 was acquired by the Georgetown Loop RR last year from the Alexander family of Cedaredge, CO along with a boxcar.
The ex-USG diesels are used for stand-in service when the steam locomotives are down (which, by the way, has not been necessary YET this season) and for work and extra service.
The cars you saw in the display building came from Hill City, SD after they were donated to the CHS by Burlington Northern. They are an original C&S coach and business car. C&S #9 is on the property and a C&S RPO is being restored - they will all be placed in the display building along with the long caboose. Late this week there have been several CHS folks visiting the property and expressing a desire to connect the tracks in the display building with the live Loop tracks and even suggesting special runs with the restored equipment. There may be hope for the CHS yet!
On the 11th we were in the process of bringing the other Shay on line and did doublehead one trip just for the heck of it! We do this for fun after all, don't we?
