Here is a question for J. David Conrad or others interested in small steam locomotives. The smallest surviving common carrier or industrial steam locomotive that I know about seems to weigh in at about 8 tons. for example, The Cortez Mines #1 (H.K. Porter,1890) is an 0-4-0T, owned by Tom Gazi and Gary Smith at Haywood, California.
There are lots of small industrial steam locomotives that get down to this small size. Does anyone know of anything smaller than 8-tons? Of course, I am not talking about amusement park or model steam locomotives. Thanks!
