Well, OLC #107 (7) is still undergoing repair at Hesston. We have all the boiler jacket off now, and most of the boiler sire brushed and re-primered. We have a professional ready to reinsulate whenever we are ready, and anoher professional lined up to make and install all new jacket. Don't know where the "sagging boiler" story came from --- NOT TRUE. A couple years after the fire, we moved #7 on compressed air, as it is really too heavy for our 2ft Plymouth critter to handle. No definite timetable to restore it -- unlike the 70-75 restoration, the majority of the crew is involved in regular summer operation of our other equipment, so Shay work is before, after, or on rainy days. The 70-75 crew was pretty much dedicated to the Shay project, with others handling the routine operating schedule. New web revisions in the next month or so at [www.hesston.org] if I don't get tied up on something else.
Someday we'll see it running again -- but it WILL BE DONE RIGHT OR NOT UNTIL WE CAN!
