Hey Earl,
I hope you wear a Dustcoat, complete with pocket protector and carry a Sliderule when you're "engineering" your trains.
Whenever I got to speak with Mainline loco crews on my US travels and asked some questions about the D-E's they were on, most replied they had no idea of the electrics or the mechanical systems and that they "just drove them", who cares like. I never heard one say he
engineered it.
Somewhere in the bowels of youtube is a video of the "Engineer" discussing the electricals with a Fitter while attempting to troubleshoot the E-8's loading issues out along the line. I was impressed.
