Given these are from the same collection, they are likely the Nolan Black trip. Earl and Jimmy Blouch helped me on the video footage we have of this 1947 trip. Indeed the train was longer and had the Silver Vista from Alamosa to Durango. 453 pulled the mixed to Silverton. There were no films of this train heading back to Alamosa, but I would bet that the one at the station with 473 is their train with the Silver Vista, especially after seeing the 453 train to Silverton. I know they went to Durango, and did the Silverton Branch, and a two-day trip on the RGS to Ridgway and back to Durango. Its possible some of the guys did not do the return to Alamosa, thus the shorter train, yet the Silver Vista was left on for them. It was a real adventurous several days on the NG.
