This photo is of the enginehouse of the Ruddock Orleans Cypress Co., Ltd. at Ruddock, Louisiana on the western shore of Lake Ponchartrain. The depot in the background is on the double-track mainline of the Illinois Central which skirts the lake entering New Orleans. Ruddock had four Manhattan Forneys as well as a fifth from the Chicago & South Side Rapid Transit. They also had a couple of 2-6-0s. I have always thought this was a dandy photo! The land is all swamp and today the Interstate highway is on a long bridge which extends virtually the entire shoreline entering New Orleans.
