Your math skills are spot on, Olaf -

If you hover your mouse pointer over the photos, you'll see that the first was taken on 600604 and the second on 620928 (in 'YYMMDD' format, assuming the missing 'CC' prefix to be '19').  And yes, as with many locations along the C&TS, many views of yesteryear are no longer anywhere near as open as they once were; the willows at Elk Park – like the aspen at Cresco – being an especially egregious example.
