A couple of years ago the D&S had pulled up the main depot track and replaced the wooden ties under the asphalt with composite ties, but at the moment all visible ties are being kept wood. At major grade crossings, I think they have installed composite ties too. As for the new stack of composite ties jerry mentioned, those could be used for the diesel facility spurs that are currently being built, so that might mean they plan on pouring asphalt around the facilities.
