Engines 473, 476, 480, 481 and 482 are all still available for service. 486 was recently taken out of service for her 1472-day inspection. 493 is, as we all know, currently in the final stages of restoration and should undergo testing this coming winter. RGS C-17 42 is currently on display in the museum and is unlikely to be restored, I think she has major problems with her frames that are difficult to resolve at this point. 478 is also inside the museum. I believe she will be restored after 493, but I see no point of this since the D&S are hungry for big engines and they already have two other K-28s in traffic. That leaves poor old 498 which has no chance of ever running again, as she would need countless amounts of new parts let alone a new tender.
