A quick note of correction.
Michael’s comment was tongue in cheek because Jerry had accidentally hit a 0 instead of a 9 in his original post. Jerry has since explained and edited his original post.
Also, the 493 was already being brought back to life when the 416 fire occurred. It was being returned to service because the D&S wants another larger locomotive for its fleet and the 483 deal did not pan out (and this is NOT an attempt to re-re-rehash that subject). The reason for wanting another large locomotive (as stated when 476 was being brought back) was the D&S has identified that they would like to do more extensive rebuilds that might take two years to complete, and thus need five of the larger locomotives to protect this plan.
