Agreed. It is not even announced. This is all speculation. I hope this event can go forward, I wish I had disposable income that I could contribute. I am not able to do so now. I totally understand the anti-freeloader mentality.
Admitted. I don't know how to run a railroad, just an opinion. This board is full of opinions.
Also note this is how things get taken out of context. My statement of not patronizing the C&TS again is based on the scenario that this supposed charter of the OY is set up to exclude people who either don't have the money, or aren't lucky enough to win a seat. I said a lot in my post, it's disingenuous to take one line.
And yes, damned if you do, damned if you don't. That is a fact of life. All of us who have spent any time in a leadership position knows that. And the C&TS, D&SNG, etc. have to deal with this on an ongoing basis, I don't envy them.
All of us enjoy seeing something like the UP bringing back the Big Boy, yet there are probably hundreds of UP employees thinking that "blankity blank steam program" is cutting into my salary. I spent 20 years with UPS and I totally disagreed with sponsoring a NASCAR team.
So why did they do it? PR. Just like the C&TS should. PR goes a long way, even if the dividends are not immediate. Otherwise it is an exclusionary event on a publicly owned RR, potentially closing a public road.
just my 2 cents worth...
