But the problem is the accumulated diesel soot that coats the roof of most tunnels, not the oil exhaust from the Big Boy. 4014, if worked through the tunnels, will steam clean the ceilings and deposit all that accumulated soot on herself and the train behind. How well I remember the 3751 fiasco. She and the front of the train looked like chimney sweeps.
