Farrar, Straus & Giroux isn't so much of a specialty publisher as John McPhee is a specialty author, Brian -
His two-part article in the New Yorker –
'Coal Train', describing a journey from Wyoming to Georgia on the U.P., BNSF and NS – is available again as part of the anthology
'Uncommon Carriers' from FS&G. He writes in such a way that you feel you're traveling with him, or with the foamers he describes on pages 195-200 of U.C. Highly recommended!!

p.s. A confession
: McPhee is a second cousin on my mom's side of the family. I've never met him, but Jackelopette has.
