I spent 13 years in Reno since 2001, Not all consecutive. I went to Grad school studying history at UNR. Reno definitely had more natives, but I would guess it may have been only 30-40% were educated in Nevada at best. I was fortunate to get learn some of the history of the area, but I did see that many of the people had no knowledge of the area. I spent 7 years working for Walmart Logistics and a group of us went to the Comstock History Center in Virginia City. Most of the people I was with had no idea about the history of the region, mining, railroads, etc. We did a tour of the cemetery and the guide spent way to much time speaking about a donkey that the miners loved rather than the actual history of the area. In my mind I thought what a waste of time to fill people's heads with that garbage instead of any other piece of history.
