It is interesting that the EN purchased the 12 one year before their own line was torn up. Did the 12 ever run on the EN? Was it simply a speculative purchase of what they thought was a potentially valuable engine? If it was a speculative purchase it is interesting the EN had the money for that sort of thing. What happed to it between 1938 and the late 1940's. A fascinating bit of historical detail, not just a question of what happened but why.
